HUE - The relic of Cham Phu Dien Tower has been flooded for many days due to heavy rain, the leaders of Hue City requested a complete handling to ensure the safety of the relic.

Faced with the situation of Cham Phu Dien Tower relic being flooded for many days due to prolonged heavy rain, on the morning of November 7, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Hoang Hai Minh directly inspected and directed the repair work.

At the scene, the Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee criticized the management unit and local authorities for being slow to report, slow to implement the handling plan, and allowing the relic to be soaked in water for a long time. He requested the mobilization of more water pumps, arranging forces to be on duty, monitoring regularly, ensuring that all water must be pumped out within the day and reporting the results to the City People's Committee.

In the long term, the Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee requested the management unit to study and propose more effective solutions to protect the relic, especially the flood drainage and control plan to ensure the safety of the relic and surrounding area.

It is known that Cham Phu Dien Tower was discovered in 2001 in Phu Dien commune, one of the rare ancient Cham Pa relics found under the coastal sand, with great historical, archaeological and cultural value. The tower has been recognized as a National Architectural and Artistic Relic.

On March 14, 2022, the Vietnam Record Organization (VietKings) set a record for "Phu Dien Tower - the first ancient Cham Tower submerged under coastal sand dunes to be excavated and preserved in Vietnam".

On May 30, 2022, the WorldKings World Record Alliance continued to record this as the " world's first excavated and preserved ancient Champaola made of deep-lying bricks under the coastal sand dunes".
