The equivalent of "Red Rain"
When discussing the historical war film genre after the work "Red Rain", Dr. Doan Van Bau - Director of the Department of Political Theory, Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department - assessed that to have a success like "Red Rain" it is necessary to first mention the attention and close direction of the leaders and related units. In addition, "Red Rain" has been invested in carefully and enthusiastically, touching the hearts of the audience.
The timing also contributed to the success of "Red Rain". This year, the country celebrates many important events, including the A80 grand festival, which is an opportunity to look back on the historical journey and pay tribute to the people who made the victory.
Dr. Doan Van Bau hopes that after "Red Rain", there will be many new works, with diverse perspectives on the topic of war, this is a big and sacred topic, needing to expand to stories with rich, multi-dimensional perspectives.
Colonel Kieu Thanh Thuy - Deputy Director of the People's Army Cinema - shared with Lao Dong reporter, Colonel Kieu Thanh Thuy said: "After "Red Rain", we will continue to search and exploit war - historical topics. To have a good film, you must first start with a good script.
Therefore, the People's Army Cinema plans to launch scriptwriting works on the theme of revolutionary war, the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new period to search, nurture and build a source of quality scripts for this theme.
In addition, if there are valuable novels and literary works rich in ideology and emotion, they can be completely considered for film adaptation. Of course, all works must go through the Arts Council to assess and evaluate their suitability and the ability to be transferred to cinematic language. If we meet the requirements, we are ready to deploy adaptations to enrich the film archive about the revolutionary war and soldiers today.
Spreading the message
Recently, "Red Rain" was selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to compete for the Oscar. When asked about this, Colonel Kieu Thanh Thuy confided: This is truly a great joy for military cinema and the entire crew. From the beginning, when we started producing the film, we did not have high expectations for revenue or box office results. The most important thing is to convey the spirit of the film: educating traditional patriotism, fighting spirit - sacrifice, the desire to live and the peaceful values of the Vietnamese people. When the film was selected for an Oscar, we just hope that international friends will know more about Vietnamese history and understand more about the spirit of the Vietnamese people. The award is not the only goal, but to spread the message".
Regarding historical films and war films, Colonel Kieu Thanh Thuy believes: The film Red Rain shows that todays youth have great interest and pride in the history of the nation. nothing spreads more strongly and closely than the language of cinema. It not only tells a story, but also sows in the hearts of the audience the strong patriotism, the gratitude for the sacrifices of our ancestors, and the sense of responsibility of today's generation. I believe that, in this digital age, if seriously invested, this film genre will continue to promote its strength, connect the patriotism of young people and arouse citizenship in the new era.
Experts and critics in the film industry expect that upcoming state and private film studios will have more development plans and investment in war and historical projects after the victory of "Red Rain". Hopefully, this will be a turning point, so that the war - historical film genre is no longer classified as a difficult film genre to watch, picky about audiences, and prone to losses.
