Accelerating the reception of international visitors at the end of the year
Just 4 days before Typhoon Yagi, Quang Ninh tourism reached its peak of growth, in which during the September 2 holiday alone, the number of tourists reached over 455,000, an increase of 20% over the same period in 2023; total tourism revenue is estimated at 1,033 billion VND, an increase of 31% over the same period in 2023.
Typhoon Yagi hit, causing heavy losses to the tourism industry. Immediately after the storm, tourism businesses and establishments in the area urgently rebuilt, determined to restore bright colors to the tourism picture of Quang Ninh.
The first positive sign after these efforts is the excitement of the cruise ship market, which usually lasts from October of the previous year to May of the following year. Quang Ninh is currently the first and only locality in Vietnam with a specialized international cruise port that can accommodate many large-scale international cruise ships at the same time.
Last October, Quang Ninh marked the milestone of welcoming its 3 millionth international visitor in 2024, arriving by ship.
Most recently, on November 4, the 5-star cruise ship Costa Serena docked at Ha Long International Passenger Port, bringing nearly 2,500 tourists from China to Quang Ninh to visit and experience the heritage wonder of Ha Long Bay, explore the city tour, and learn about local culture.
Costa Serena is one of the largest cruise ships of Costa Cruises (Italy), famous for its journeys in the Asian region. In 2024, this 5-star cruise ship docked at Ha Long international passenger port 4 times.
Ms. Nguyen Huyen Anh - Director of the Department of Tourism of Quang Ninh province - said: "From now until the end of the year, Quang Ninh will welcome about 20 large cruise ships from famous global brands such as Mein Schiff 6, Celebrity Solstice, Noordam... with thousands of international tourists from Europe, America and China. The Department of Tourism is actively promoting the connection of cruise routes between Beihai (China) and Ha Long (Vietnam), aiming to further expand the international sea tourism market. The local tourism industry is determined to maintain its growth momentum to welcome 19 million tourists in 2024; including 3.5 million international visitors. Tourism revenue is expected to reach 46,460 billion VND".

Heritage and wonder of Ha Long Bay is the main attraction for international tourists not only in Quang Ninh but also in Vietnam. Its unique beauty and outstanding global values have been recognized by UNESCO three times and have been continuously honored by prestigious travel magazines and websites around the world through votes from tourists around the world.
Quang Ninh province is developing a performance art product combined with light parties in caves in Ha Long Bay; identifying pristine beaches and islands for the billionaire and super-luxury segment of the world's 1% population.
The tourism industry and localities with natural and cultural advantages aim to attract tourists with community tourism products and experiential discovery tourism. Such as trekking products combined with cultural experiences in Binh Lieu district; promoting the attraction of Chinese tourists through Mong Cai border gate; promoting the opening of international flights through Van Don International Airport; developing products on Bai Tu Long Bay.
Grasping the tourism trends of each international tourist market, Quang Ninh also identified the key markets in the last months of the year to continue to be Northeast Asia, India, the US and some European countries, Australia...
In October 2024 alone, destinations in Quang Ninh province welcomed 1.3 million visitors, and in 10 months, they welcomed over 16.7 million visitors, basically ensuring the set plan.
