The film evokes many emotions
Immediately, "Red Rain" became one of the most popular Vietnamese films. Not only because of its appearance in the "golden time", when the patriotism of our people is high, but the film attracts viewers first of all because of its content. Colonel, writer Chu Lai - the film's scriptwriter was a soldier fighting in the Southern battlefield. As an involved person, under his pen the revolutionary war theme is portrayed realistically, vividly, and full of soldier quality. The images in the film are of high quality, evoking many emotions. This is also a film that has been invested in a lot since pre-production, with a magnificent setting... Not only a unique and special film, "Red Rain" is also a tribute to those who have fallen for independence, freedom and peace, for justice, conscience and human dignity.
In recent days, in addition to mainstream press, cyberspace has also been flooded with information about the movie "Red Rain" with thousands of articles, shares, and emotional comments, especially from young people. Perhaps partly because the characters in "Red Rain" represent millions of Vietnamese youth who were patriotic during the resistance war against the US to save the country.
The insult to traditional history
However, besides the articles and positive comments, there have been distorted thoughts. Referring to the things that remained after watching the movie "Red Rain", someone wrote "it is just a sorrow". Explaining the heartbreaking they wrote that heartbreaking for human fate is too fragile in war. Referring to the sacrifice of soldiers in the fierce 81 days and nights battle in Quang Tri ancient citadel, they wrote that the soldiers were "thrown to death in the most painful way just because of the greed of some people"...
It is still known that, after watching a film, how to feel emotions is each person's personal right. But we should remember, when that film is related to history, especially the traditional history of the nation, expressing opinions needs to be expressed responsibly, respecting history and the sacrifices of the previous generation.
Inspired by historical events, reflecting the arduous and fierce struggle of the Vietnamese army and people in the resistance war against the US, saving the country in general and in the fight in Quang Tri ancient citadel in particular, the film "Red Rain" left many emotions for viewers. Through media and social networks, after watching the film, the audience can express different emotions: moved, admired, proud, sad... even not satisfied with the way the film is portrayed. However, the reaction as stated is negative, distorted, disrespectful to the sacred values of the nation, insulting history, denying the contributions of those who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
The noble and sacred sacrifice of the soldiers cannot be denied
The metaphorical assessment that the sacrifice of the Vietnamese army in the resistance war was because they were "pushed to the most painful death just because of the greed of some people"... is a very one-sided assessment, clearly revealing the deviation in perception, even insulting their patriotism and noble fighting ideals.
An undeniable fact is that the Vietnamese army in resistance wars, especially in the resistance war against French colonialism and American imperialism) was all voluntary. They have "routed their pens to the battlefield", written a voluntary petition in blood to join the armed forces, and set out to the battlefield with the noble ideal: Protecting national independence and unifying the country, not "for the greed of some people" as someone said. They clearly understand that war is hardship and can require blood and sacrifice, but they still accept going to the battlefield. From soldiers on the front line to young volunteers, arduous militia... everyone has a strong patriotism, ready to fight and sacrifice themselves to protect the independence and freedom of the nation and the lives of compatriots. They are not "pushed into...", but are committed to a strong belief. Because in their hearts and minds, they always think: "We do not regret our lives when going/ How can we not regret in our twenties/ But everyone who regrets in their twenties still spends for the Fatherland".
Vietnam never wants war, but the enemy forces us to fight to survive. Vietnam does not proactively fight against any country, but foreign affairs force us to hold weapons to fight to protect the Fatherland. In that context, soldiers became the front line for the resistance war and their fall was a noble, sacred sacrifice, with profound historical value and meaning. The Vietnamese people, from generation to generation, will forever be grateful and remember the sacrifices of the soldiers. These are not meaningless deaths, but deaths to protect life, protect independence, freedom and peace. The sacrifice of the Vietnamese army in the resistance war was not because of "pushing to death", but because of revolutionary ideals, patriotism, and sacred duty to the Fatherland and the people.
The distorted statements as stated not only hurt the heroic martyrs, but also distorted history and denied the patriotic value of the Vietnamese people. After watching the film, expressing emotions is a right - but along with that right is a citizen responsibility. Each person must be responsible for the words they express, responsible for history and responsible for the community. Do not let extreme things, lack of understanding or emotions temporarily hurt the sacred things that many generations have built and preserved.
