Don't follow the crowd
In the journey to choose a career, many students still follow the majority trend without really considering their interests and strengths. Having advised many cases in this situation, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Binh - a teacher at Nghe An Ethnic Boarding High School - said that lack of orientation can easily make it difficult for students to study, develop their careers, and even struggle after graduation because they cannot find a suitable job.
According to Ms. Binh, to avoid falling into the situation of "learning one thing, doing another thing", learners need to proactively spend time exploring themselves - what they love, what fields are they good at, which profession are their personalities suitable for?
A profession that sounds very potential, has many job opportunities, high salaries, but if it does not suit their abilities and personality, it will be difficult for them to pursue for a long time. Candidates need to be alert, carefully consider the advantages and difficulties, clearly determine whether they are persistent and passionate enough to pursue a career or not - Ms. Binh shared.
The female teacher advised students to take advantage of extracurricular activities, experiences, early internships or learn from previous colleagues to better visualize the working environment and the nature of the work of the industry they are interested in.
Students need to develop a study plan in line with their chosen career goals. And remember, choosing a major is just the beginning, nurturing passion and practicing knowledge and skills is the key for them to confidently enter the labor market.
Proactively adapt
According to the prediction of MSc. Do Ngoc Anh - Director of the Center for Communication and Admissions, Hanoi Open University, professions directly related to technology will continue to play a key role in the human resource picture in the coming period.
"First of all, we must mention the fields of Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence - the fields that are leading the country's digital transformation process. In addition, e-commerce is also exploding strongly, attracting a huge demand for human resources with knowledge of management, digital marketing, logistics and supply chains - MSc. Do Ngoc Anh analyzed.
This person also emphasized that candidates need to pay more attention to sustainability factors and adapt to unpredictable fluctuations in the labor market. Studying any major should be placed in contact with neighboring professions, expand knowledge and skills so that when graduating, job opportunities are not limited.
Sharing the same view, Dr. Tran Khac Thac - Head of Training Department, University of Water Resources recommends that learners proactively update new skills, flexibly supplement essential areas of knowledge such as foreign languages, digital skills, soft skills and teamwork skills. This is an important bag to help them prepare for the strict requirements of employers.
Dr. Tran Khac Thac believes that choosing a suitable major requires a combination of personal interests, abilities, actual conditions of the family, understanding the labor market and a long-term vision. When carefully calculated and selected the profession that suits them, candidates will be more confident in the face of unpredictable fluctuations in the future job market.
