As of May 31, the number of workers in Hai Duong is expected to increase by 0.6% compared to the previous month and increase by 2.9% compared to the same period in 2024. This is an optimistic signal showing that industrial production is gradually recovering and expanding after a period of being affected by many unfavorable factors.
In the first 5 months of 2025, the number of workers in the entire industry increased by 1.5% compared to the same period last year. Notably, many key manufacturing industries with high demand for labor continue to record a steady increase.
The food and beverage industry increased by 2.7%; beverage production increased by 3.8%; the textile and garment industry increased sharply by 5.2%; garment production increased by 1.1%; skin and related products increased by 1.2%.
Some other processing and manufacturing industries also showed positive signals such as: rubber and plastic production increased by 3.9%; products from prefabricated metals (except machinery and equipment) increased by 5.5%; electronic products increased by 1.0%; electrical equipment increased by 3.2%; unwomanly machinery and equipment increased by 3.1%; motor vehicle production increased by 0.3%; other processing and manufacturing industries increased by 4.0%.
These are all industries that employ many unskilled workers, closely related to the global supply chain, and at the same time contribute greatly to the growth of industrial production and export turnover of the province. The increase in the number of employees reflects the recovery of orders, expansion of production scale and efforts to retain and attract workers of enterprises in Hai Duong province.
In addition, some industries in Hai Duong still recorded a decrease in labor compared to the same period last year. Accordingly, other mining industries decreased by 9.7%; production of products from other non-metallic minerals decreased by 4.9%; production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam... decreased by 1.1%. These are highly specific sectors, greatly affected by fluctuations in the raw material market, consumption demand as well as the trend of using renewable energy and energy-saving technology.
In the coming time, Hai Duong will continue to focus on improving the investment environment, creating favorable conditions for businesses to expand production and attract workers. At the same time, the province also promotes training and improving the quality of human resources, especially in industries with high technology content, to meet the requirements of sustainable development and enhance competitiveness in the new period.
