The above information was shared by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vinh - Deputy Head of the Transport Management Department (HCMC Department of Construction) at a press conference on the socio-economic situation of HCMC on the afternoon of July 3.
According to Mr. Vinh, on the first day (July 1), no officer used a pick-up and drop-off vehicle. By the second day, an officer from Binh Duong took a bus and by the third day (July 3), the number had increased to 25 people (17 officers from Binh Duong and 8 officers from Ba Ria - Vung Tau).
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vinh said that at first, few people used pick-up and drop-off vehicles because the newly merged agencies, units and departments of Ho Chi Minh City were in the process of arranging and rearranging personnel.
Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has directed the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center to coordinate with relevant departments and branches to grasp the needs, thereby adjusting the pick-up and drop-off plan accordingly.
"After the first 1-2 weeks of implementation, the relevant agencies will conduct an assessment to make adjustments more suitable and effective" - said a representative of the Department of Construction.
Discussing further about this issue, Mr. Tang Huu Phong - Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - said that not all cadres and civil servants travel to the central area of Ho Chi Minh City to work. Ho Chi Minh City still takes advantage of existing facilities in the two old localities to organize activities.
Because in the first days, many agencies were arranging and assigning work, not the single-vehicle pick-up and drop-off, which was "officers not going to work". In addition, some people choose to use personal vehicles for convenience instead of taking a shared car.
Previously, from July 1, the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center has deployed free shuttle buses to serve cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers working at administrative agencies after the merger.
Binh Duong - Ho Chi Minh City route: Starting from the old Binh Duong Provincial Administrative Center, the destination is Saigon Bus Station.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau - HCMC route: Starting from Coopmart Vung Tau supermarket (Nguyen An Ninh street), passing through the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Administrative Center (old), ending at Saigon Bus Station.
The vehicles used include 4 new 45-seat cars and 6 new 16-seat cars, manufactured in 2025, equipped with free Wi-Fi to facilitate comfortable movement for officers and civil servants. When getting on the vehicle, users only need to present a civil servant or public employee card or confirmation documents to be served.
