According to Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, with the drastic direction of the province and the active involvement of localities, the site clearance (GPMB) of the Hanoi - Quang Ninh high-speed railway project is being urgently implemented.
The Hanoi - Quang Ninh high-speed railway line passes through 7 wards including: Mao Khe, Hoang Que, Yen Tu, Uong Bi, Dong Mai, Ha An and Tuan Chau with a total area to be recovered of 154.37ha; affecting 1,897 organizations, households and individuals.
Up to now, localities have completed the recovery of the land area managed by the Commune and Ward People's Committees and handed over to investors 38.99ha of clean land. Among them, Tuan Chau and Mao Khe are the first two localities to complete the entire site clearance work.
According to the assessment of the remaining localities, the implementation progress is being accelerated, striving to complete the site clearance work before September 30, 2026 according to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee.
To ensure the project progress, the Provincial People's Committee requests communes and wards with routes passing through to continue to focus on implementing site clearance procedures in accordance with regulations; complete the notice of land acquisition, inventory, counting, verification of land origin and development of compensation, support, and resettlement plans in June 2026; and complete the approval of compensation plans in July 2026.
The Hanoi - Quang Ninh high-speed railway project is implemented in 4 provinces and cities (Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh), invested by VinSpeed High-Speed Railway Investment and Development Joint Stock Company.
The investment scale of the project is to build a double road, 1,435 mm gauge, electrified with a route length of about 120km (starting point at the National Exhibition Fair Center (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi city) and ending point at the Public Park Area (Tuan Chau ward, Quang Ninh province).

In which, the section passing through Hanoi City is about 16km long; the section passing through Bac Ninh province is about 32km long; the section passing through Hai Phong City is about 33km long; the section passing through Quang Ninh province is about 39km long. The total investment is 147.370 billion VND, excluding about 10,270 billion VND of site clearance compensation costs guaranteed by the state budget.
The design speed of the main route is 350 km/h, the section passing through Hanoi has a design speed of 120 km/h.
The route is about 120km long, of which the elevated railway section on the ground is about 4km long; the elevated railway section is about 116km structured with viaducts, overflow bridges, road overpasses, railway overpasses and arranging access roads to stations and depots.
The entire route has 5 stations, including: Co Loa Station, in Dong Anh commune, Hanoi, area of about 35.58ha; Gia Binh Station, in Lam Thao commune, Bac Ninh province, area of about 7.48ha; Ninh Xa Station, in Bac An Phu ward, Hai Phong city, area of about 7.14ha; Yen Tu Station, in Yen Tu ward, Quang Ninh province, area of about 10.6ha; Ha Long Xanh Station, in Tuan Chau ward, Quang Ninh province, area of about 37.88ha; 1 depot at the end point of Ha Long Xanh station, Tuan Chau ward, Quang Ninh, area of about 34.32ha.
According to the design, to build a series of viaducts, overflow bridges, road overpasses, railway overpasses... there will be more than 3,400 bridge piers on the entire route. In which, the section through Quang Ninh province has about 1,108 bridge piers.
The Hanoi - Quang Ninh high-speed railway project was started on April 12, 2026, at the construction site of Ha Long Xanh station (in Tuan Chau and Viet Hung wards, Quang Ninh province).
The project is expected to be put into operation in 2028.
