On April 8, information from the People's Committee of Tan Ky district, Nghe An province confirmed that a serious work accident had just occurred in the area, killing 3 people.
At around 2:00 p.m. the same day, 3 people in Tan Hop commune, Tan Ky district, went down to the well to conduct a survey and dredge the soil.
While the group of people were working under the well, the well suddenly collapsed, and rocks and soil from the well wall collapsed, burying all 3 people.
After receiving the notice from the people, the local authorities quickly mobilized rescue forces, coordinating with local people to rescue the victims. However, when they were taken out of the well, all three were no longer breathing and died on the spot.
Chairwoman of Tan Hop Commune People's Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Khuyen, said that this was an extremely heartbreaking accident, as all 3 victims were the main breadwinners in the family. Local authorities are currently coordinating with the victims' families to arrange the funeral and visit and encourage them.
"The authorities have blocked off the scene and are investigating the cause of the incident," Ms. Khuyen added.
This accident once again warns about potential risks in heavy work and requires better attention and safety in rural work.
