HCMC - Less than 3 months after the fire, alley 42 Tran Dinh Xu (District 1) was revived with a new, spacious house thanks to the cooperation of the government and the community.

The fire on January 28, 2025 caused significant damage, burning down 7 houses and affecting 11 others. Many families are in a difficult situation right before the Lunar New Year. The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical short circuit.

Immediately after receiving the report, the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police (PCCC&CNCH) of District 1 Police quickly arrived, coordinating with local authorities to urgently extinguish the fire, minimizing the damage from spreading.

At the same time, Co Giang ward has coordinated with relevant units to carry out emergency evacuation and arrange temporary accommodation for affected households at 69-71 Ho Hao Hon street, ensuring initial essential needs for the people.

After nearly 3 months of continuous efforts, the new houses have been completed.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nghia - one of the people who suffered the most damage - could not hide his emotions when stepping into his new house. "Before the fire, my house was old and dilapidated. The fire made life even more difficult. Thanks to the dedicated help of authorities at all levels and benefactors, my family now has a new, spacious house like this. I have never dared to dream of having such a beautiful house."

Standing at Mr. Nghia's house, Mrs. Vu Thi Duc is also busy arranging furniture for her new family. "I have lived in this alley for almost my entire life, never thinking of living in such a bright, clean house. When the house burned down, I was really confused, worried about what the future would be like. Now I can work with peace of mind and stabilize my life," Ms. Duc shared her joy.

Mr. Pham Vanem - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Co Giang Ward - said that immediately after the fire occurred, the ward government directly met and listened to the people's thoughts and aspirations about repairing and rebuilding their houses. On that basis, the ward has conducted detailed inspections and assessments of the current status of each house and urgently compiled a report to the People's Committee of District 1 to have a timely support plan.

"Up to this point, we are very happy to announce that the repair and reconstruction of damaged houses has been completed well. It is worth noting that the ward not only focuses on overcoming the direct consequences of the fire but also deploys measures to renovate and beautify the urban area in a synchronous manner, aiming to improve the quality of life for people in the area," Mr. them emphasized.

In addition to rebuilding houses, Co Giang ward also carries out maintenance and repair of alley foundations, removing illegal advertising and display signs that cause loss of urban beauty, renovating public toilets, and strengthening fire safety in residential areas.

In particular, the ward has also mobilized people to join hands to maintain environmental hygiene, ensure security and order in the alley and paint propaganda walls with meaningful messages about environmental protection, contributing to creating a greener, cleaner and more civilized living space.
