On June 16, the dredging of the drainage system in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is being vigorously implemented by the construction unit to ensure the drainage system operates better in the upcoming rainy season.
In particular, residential areas that are often flooded, flooded areas, and main drainage routes in Vung Tau City are prioritized for dredging first.
After 2 years of no dredging, many places in the drainage system have a large amount of mud and sand left, workers have to open the lid to go into the sewers to be able to clear the drainage system. At the same time, some sewer covers affected after a long period of not being maintained... also caused obstacles for workers to carry out dredging work.

A representative of Vietnam Science and Technology Joint Stock Company ( Busadco - the dredging construction unit) said that to ensure the completion of a large workload, the unit has mobilized 200 direct workers; 30 means of transportation, sludge suction; 8 excavators and excavators mobilized for dredging since mid-June.
According to the Department of Construction of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the whole province has about more than 1,000 km of drainage system; dredging in 2025 will be carried out at about 60% of the total length of the system, completed in August 2025. In Vung Tau City alone, there are about 400 km of drainage systems, and it is expected that in 2025, about 58 km of drainage culverts and 12 km of main drainage canals will be dredged.
Previously, dredging was suspended for nearly 2 years, only temporarily implemented to ensure no widespread flooding, leading to localized flooding in some places in the area. Recently, the province has approved funding for maintaining dredging and patrolling the operation of the drainage system in 2025; and the unit has quickly implemented activities to solve the problem, minimizing possible flooding before the rainy season.
