Along the Thai Binh River, near the old Phu Luong Bridge, there has been a situation of solid waste and construction waste being gathered recently. Spontaneous landfills formed right next to the outside of the dike not only destroy the urban beauty but also pollute the environment, directly affecting the lives of residential areas.
According to people's reflection, after storms, the riverside area, which was fertile land, has become a place for solid waste to be illegally dumped. Each truck carrying old waste and construction materials continuously enters and exits, dumping garbage into large piles. After that, the subjects also used excavators to level and cover the top with soil, causing waste to be buried in the ground, making it difficult to thoroughly handle.
Mr. Tran Trung Hien - Head of Residential Group No. 8, Hai Duong Ward - said that this situation has been going on for a while: "There are a few garbage trucks coming to dump, then they let their motorbikes scrap the fertile layer of soil to fill the garbage. This causes frustration for the residential area, which is both dusty and dirty, and spoils the landscape along the river".
The landfill also creates a large amount of dust, especially on dry days. Dust and waste dust from the wind are distributed in residential areas, affecting the daily life and health of people, especially the elderly and children. Many people are concerned that construction waste and household waste that have been illegally buried for a long time will pollute land and water, negatively affecting the environment of the Thai Binh River.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan (Ho Xuan Huong Street, Hai Duong Ward) expressed: "We hope that the situation of solid waste dumping along the river will soon end. In addition to checking and handling violations, the authorities need to strengthen supervision, put up warning signs and take strict management measures of the area outside the dike. The handling needs to be done regularly and continuously".
In response to the people's reflections, the People's Committee of Hai Duong Ward said that it had grasped the situation. According to the representative of the Ward People's Committee, the ward had previously conducted an inspection and recorded the illegal gathering of solid waste and construction waste in the area outside the dike along the river. The Ward People's Committee will coordinate with the police force to completely resolve this situation.
From a professional perspective, Mr. Le Thanh Tung - Head of the Economic - Infrastructure and Urban Affairs Department of Hai Duong Ward - informed that in the area, there are a number of units using land outside the dike to gather construction materials and waste in violation of regulations. The Department will organize specific inspections and reviews of each case and take preventive and handling measures.
