On December 25, according to information from the People's Committee of Hung Loi commune (Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province), a baby boy was discovered abandoned overnight.
At around 7pm on December 24, a resident in Hamlet 1, Hung Loi Commune discovered a newborn baby boy abandoned in front of the gate. The baby was wrapped in many layers of blankets and placed in a basket with milk, clothes, utensils and a letter.
The letter left by the baby's mother reads: "I gave birth to you but I am unable to raise you. I entrust you to take my place. You were born on December 23, weighed 3.2kg, and was born at 2:56 p.m."
The incident was reported to the Commune People's Committee by the locals. The child was taken to the medical station for a health check.
The abandoned child was then temporarily handed over to the family who found him to take care of while the local authorities issued a notice to find his relatives. After the notice period, if the child's relatives do not come to claim the child, the authorities will handle the matter according to regulations.
