On October 30, the leader of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine and Aquaculture of Lam Dong province said that Navetco Central Veterinary Medicine Joint Stock Company (Navetco Company) had negotiated with 350 dairy farming households in Lam Dong province.
Work content on compensation for cows that died after being vaccinated against lumpy skin disease; at the same time, negotiate a plan to pay 50% of the compensation value in advance to the affected households.
Accordingly, 330 households agreed with the compensation level and compensation plan, while 20 other households did not agree.
For 330 households who agreed and signed the minutes, Navetco Company has completed the payment of 50% of the compensation value in advance, with a total amount of nearly 18 billion VND.
According to statistics from Navetco Company, as of September 26, Lam Dong province had a total of 511 dairy cows dead, thousands of others sick. The company announced a total compensation of nearly 40 billion VND for 350 households.
Mr. Pham Phi Long - Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Aquatic Products of Lam Dong province - said that for 20 households that have not agreed on the compensation level and compensation plan, Navetco Company is coordinating with relevant agencies to organize work, grasp information to reach an agreement on related contents, and carry out procedures to compensate for damages to the people.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that Lam Dong authorities organized vaccinations against lumpy skin disease in buffaloes and cows in districts and cities from July 22 to July 31.
To date, more than 31,000 doses have been administered, of which 10,000 have been administered to dairy cows.
According to people's feedback, after 7-10 days of injection, dairy cows showed signs of weakness, stopped eating, coughed, foamed at the mouth, vomited blood and died. Currently, the Department of Agriculture of Lam Dong province recorded that 550 dairy cows in the whole province died.
The Department of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development concluded that the cause of Vietnamese sausage disease in dairy cows was due to infection with Pestivirus tauri (BVDV type 2) after vaccination with Navet-LpVac vaccine of Navetco Central Veterinary Medicine Joint Stock Company.
