Forced to fire a deputy director of the vehicle inspection center for accepting bribes

Hoa Binh - Director of the Department of Transport of the province has just issued a disciplinary document forcing Ms. Tran Thu Huong - Deputy Director of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center 28 - 01S to quit her job.

The document clearly states that the Director of the Department of Transport of Hoa Binh decided to discipline Ms. Tran Thu Huong - Deputy Director of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center (under the Department of Transport of Hoa Binh) by forcing her to quit her job.

Ms. Huong committed the first violation, causing particularly serious consequences in one of the cases specified in Article 16, Decree No. 112 dated September 18, 2020 of the Government (Sentenced by the High Court in Hanoi to 30 months in prison for the crime of "Accepting bribes").

Previously, in March 2024, the People's Court of Hoa Binh province opened a first-instance criminal trial against the defendants, former leaders and employees of the 28-01S Motor Vehicle Inspection Center under the Department of Transport of Hoa Binh province, for the crime of "Receiving bribes".

The defendants include Trinh Thanh Cong (born in 1985), former Director of Motor Vehicle Inspection Center 28-01S; Tran Thu Huong (born in 1978), former Deputy Director; Kim Ngoc Hieu (born in 1988), former Head of Inspection Division; Bui Trung Linh (born in 1990), former Deputy Head of Inspection Division;

Along with the defendants Vu Manh Tuan (born 1983), Nguyen Xuan Ngoc (born 1987), Pham Thai Son (born 1990), Ngo Minh Hoa (born 1993), Duong Duc Thanh (born 1987) and Nguyen Viet Duong (born 1991) are all inspectors.

According to the case file, from March to September 2022, while performing assigned tasks, the defendants took advantage of their positions and powers and used various tricks to receive a total amount of more than 100 million VND from drivers who came to register for vehicle inspection in order to ignore some vehicle errors.

After a comprehensive review of the case, the People's Court of Hoa Binh Province decided to sentence defendant Trinh Thanh Cong to 4 years in prison; Tran Thu Huong and Bui Trung Linh were both sentenced to 30 months in prison; Kim Ngoc Hieu was sentenced to 36 months in prison. The remaining defendants were all sentenced to 24 months in prison but given suspended sentences.
