On August 16, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot city (Dak Lak province) said that the locality will organize a public consultation on the plan to convert villages and rename residential groups in the wards.
The consultation will be conducted publicly, democratically, and in accordance with legal regulations. Local authorities are responsible for fully and promptly informing and propagating to voters about the reasons, necessity and content of the plan, in order to create high consensus and unity among Party committees, authorities and people.
The activity to collect voters' opinions will be held at the halls of villages and residential groups. For places with 200 or more households, meetings can be divided into residential areas.
The village chief and the head of the residential group can authorize a member of the Front Working Committee or a prestigious citizen in the residential area to chair, chair a meeting and report the results for general synthesis.
When organizing meetings by population cluster, it is necessary to clearly ensure the following contents: Number of population clusters; Chairman or authorized Chairman; expected time and location of organization; assignment of implementation; report the results of each population cluster and summarize the whole village and residential group.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot Ward (Dak Lak Province) is preparing related contents to submit to the Ward People's Council for decision on converting villages and renaming residential groups in the area according to regulations.
After the merger, Buon Ma Thuot ward has an area of 71.99km2, population of nearly 170,000 people. The ward has 89 residential groups, villages and hamlets (3 villages, 5 hamlets, 81 residential groups).
Through comparison with the Circular of the Ministry of Home Affairs on guiding the organization and operation of villages and residential groups, it is stipulated that: The names of villages and residential groups established by new or merged cannot overlap with the names of existing villages and residential groups in the same commune-level administrative unit.
Since then, Buon Ma Thuot ward has reviewed that 74 residential groups with the same name need to be renamed and 7 residential groups need to be renamed to suit local characteristics, making it convenient for management.
