On the afternoon of March 25, reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper recorded that a group of workers were repairing the expansion joint in the middle of Ham Nghi bridge in Ha Huy Tap ward. While the repair location of the expansion joint at the southern abutment of the bridge has been completed.
A technical officer of Corporation 319 - Ministry of National Defense said that the repair of the expansion joint on Ham Nghi bridge has been carried out by the unit for nearly 2 weeks with 2 locations to be repaired, including the southern abutment and the middle section of the bridge.
The repair process is carried out in lane No. 2 (lane near the corrugated iron guardrail) in both directions of movement for vehicles to circulate in the remaining lane.
By the end of this afternoon, we will complete the repairs and will move the machinery to ensure that vehicles can return to normal traffic," the technical officer shared.

The reason for repair is that the concrete part in the expansion joint has been damaged, forcing it to be chiseled and replaced with a new concrete layer.
Also according to this official, the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway is 35.28km long, and will be opened to traffic on April 30, 2025. After a period of operation, there is a lot of traffic, leading to damage to the concrete part in the expansion joint.
The Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway section has its starting point at Km 479+117 with the National Highway 8 intersection in Duc Quang commune, connecting to the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway and its ending point at Km 514+441 in Thach Xuan commune, continuing with the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway.
Bai Vot - Ham Nghi route has a total investment of more than 7,600 billion VND, started on January 1, 2023, officially put into operation from the end of April 2025.
