On the afternoon of February 25, the Steering Committee for the Bac Kan - Cao Bang Expressway Construction Investment Project held a meeting to give opinions on removing difficulties and obstacles and accelerating the progress of the investment preparation phase. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Phan Thang An - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee.
The Bac Kan - Cao Bang expressway project is on the list of nationally important projects, implemented in the form of public investment, with a preliminary total investment of about 29,996 billion VND.
The route has a length of about 82.5km, a scale of 4 lanes, a design speed of 80km/h, a roadbed width of 22m, and has continuous emergency stop lanes. The starting point connects the Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway (Thai Nguyen province), the ending point is in Tan Giang ward (Cao Bang province).
Currently, the project is waiting for capital and balance capacity appraisal from the Government to complete the appraisal report, as a basis for submitting to the Provincial People's Council for investment policy approval according to regulations.
At the meeting, delegates focused on analyzing major "bottlenecks" in the investment preparation phase such as capital allocation, investment mechanisms, conversion of forest use purposes and site clearance work.

Speaking to direct, Provincial Party Secretary Phan Thang An emphasized that, along with the Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway, this is a strategic infrastructure project, of particular importance to the socio-economic development of the province in the 2025 - 2030 term.
According to the conclusion of General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the goal is to start the project on May 19, 2026.
The Provincial Party Secretary requested the entire political system to get involved with high determination, take drastic action right from the beginning of the year; identify the "road" of 85 days and nights, and assign tasks according to the "6 clear" motto.
Units need to maintain a weekly monitoring and reporting regime to promptly remove obstacles, ensure progress, regulations, and prevent waste and negativity from the beginning.
The general spirit is to "run while queuing", proactively coordinate closely with central ministries and sectors to remove difficulties in capital and mechanisms, strive to start construction on schedule, and create breakthroughs in transport infrastructure for Cao Bang in the coming time.
