The North - South Expressway project, Vung Ang - Bung section, is over 55km long, with a total investment of VND12,548 billion, and has so far reached about 90% of the construction value.
According to Project Management Board 6, the entire route is 55.34km long, passing through two provinces of Ha Tinh (12.9km) and Quang Binh (42.44km). The project has 2 main packages, including XL01 and XL02 with a total of 33 bridges, 1 tunnel through the mountain ( currently more than 1.5km long, Deo But tunnel), 406 culverts, 37 underpasses for people and millions of cubic meters of embankment and excavation foundation.

As of early May 2025, the construction value has reached VND 7,748 billion, about 90% of the total value. Both packages currently basically meet the requirements of human resources and machinery with 40 construction teams, more than 1,200 workers and 620 equipment.
Of which, most bridges, culverts, roadbeds and underpasses for people have been completed or are under construction. Deo But tunnel alone has opened both branches, currently reaching more than 99% of the tunnel excavation volume. However, some items such as road surface, railings, and safety fences are still 5 - 15% behind schedule.

The project has been handed over the site to 100% of the entire length, but there are still some small locations. Specifically, Quang Trach district still has 12 households that have not been relocated; Ba Don town still has 29 households that have not been handed over, affecting the construction of protective fences, service roads, and anti-pressure platforms.
Regarding investment capital, up to now, the project has disbursed all capital for the years 2022 - 2024 (nearly 8,200 billion VND). In 2025 alone, the disbursement rate will reach 9.44%.
Project Management Board 6 requested the Ministry of Construction and the People's Committee of Quang Binh province to direct the locality to urgently complete site clearance in April and remove difficulties to ensure the progress of the route opening in mid-2025 as planned.
