Ms. Ho Ngoc Thuy (40 years old) and Mr. Truong Quang Thai (43 years old, in Can Tho) are currently causing a stir in the online community with a cross-court cycling trip to visit Uncle Ho's Mausoleum and watch a parade, a parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day on September 2 (A80) in Hanoi.
Ms. Thuy and her husband have traveled by bicycle from Can Tho for 36 days, and now (8. 27).
"After many hours, my husband and I moved through the center of storm No. 5. By noon today (8. 27), we have gone to the martyrs' cemetery of Thanh Lam commune, Ninh Binh province to offer incense to the heroic martyrs. Since the impact of storm No. 5, the distance we travel has often had wind and rain. To ensure safety, when the wind is strong, we temporarily stay at people's houses and shops on the roadside," Ms. Thuy recalled.
Sharing about the reason why the couple was determined to overcome the storm to go to Hanoi, Ms. Thuy said that she grew up in a family with a revolutionary tradition. Her grandmother used to raise her to hide from the army, he was a war invalid and her aunt worked as a delivery man. That is why she decided to cycle to Hanoi with her husband not only to visit Uncle Ho's Mausoleum and watch the parade, but also to stop to offer incense to heroic martyrs at cemeteries and historical sites where the couple passed.
Each cemetery and historical location where the couple stopped left outstanding impressions of the meaningful trip. "Witnessing each grave carefully guarded and preserved by the watchmen, I could not hold back my tears. The tombs are close together like a close comrade-in-law relationship. Then there are stories like vivid evidence of history that help us better understand the sacrifice and loss of our ancestors," Ms. Thuy said emotionally.
Starting the cycling journey with simple luggage, Ms. Thuy and her husband always receive the affection of people across the country.
For the past 36 days, to keep her journey uninterrupted, Thuy and her husband woke up at more than 3am, prepared and started the trip like morning cycling. Traveling during the day, depending on health and weather conditions, the couple balances rest time and find a suitable place to rest in the evening.
On the way, Ms. Thuy and her husband encountered many difficulties, but the couple never thought about giving up. For the couple, this cycling trip across Vietnam was a memorable, meaningful journey and many more lessons about gratitude. In addition, from this trip, Ms. Thuy also hopes to raise funds to repay gratitude and show gratitude to people with meritorious services, towards the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
