Realizing the dreams of the poor
In the early days of May, in her newly completed spacious house, Ms. Trieu Thi Phe (74 years old, Ba Son village, Ba Son commune) could not hide her tears of emotion.
At the age of seventy years old, and carrying the burden of raising 2 disabled children, she never dared to dream of a solid shelter from rain and sun.
Faced with this particularly difficult situation, through the province's temporary house removal program, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province and Na Duong Coal Company supported her family with 30 million VND to repair the dilapidated house.

For the elderly like us, having a solid roof is the most precious thing. Receiving support, I am so happy that I can't sleep. Now that I have a stable place to live, I reduce the burden in my heart, and life is much less worrying" - Ms. Phê confided.
In fact, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Lang Son is being implemented with extremely practical support at 60 million VND/newly built house and 30 million VND/repaired house.
Notably, the program strictly adheres to the motto "State partially supports, family proactively, community contributes", helping many households from temporary accommodation to have solid "3 solid" facilities (solid foundation, solid frame, solid roof).
The entire political system rolls up their sleeves
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Be Van Kien - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hoang Van Thu commune - said that in 2025, the whole commune has 29 households eligible for support. Thanks to the determination, 22 households registered in 2025 and 4 households registered in 2026 have all completed construction and repair ahead of schedule, reaching 100% of the plan.

In addition to common resources, the commune also mobilized socialization to support 3 other households with a budget of 120 million VND. Disbursement, appraisal, and acceptance work are all ensured to be for the right subjects, in accordance with policies, and will be completely completed in March 2026" - Mr. Kien informed.
In Nhan Ly and Ba Son communes, local authorities have mobilized maximum standing militia forces, police, border guards and officials of Nong Lam Truong 196 to directly go to the villages.
Lieutenant Colonel Mong Truong Dinh - Head of Nhan Ly Commune Police - shared: "We assign officials to be in charge of each village, not only urging but also directly loading and unloading materials, dismantling old houses, leveling ground to help people. Thanks to community support for working days, people's construction costs have been significantly reduced.

From the transparency and publicity in the way of doing things, the program has received high consensus from the people and the joint efforts of many agencies and businesses. Lang Son has issued Open Letters and mobilized more than 489 billion VND, including cash, in-kind, machinery, and working days.
According to data from the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Lang Son province, to date, a total of 6,508/6,508 houses throughout the province have been completed and put into use (including 3,840 newly built houses, 2,668 houses repaired).
The works are all of guaranteed quality, in accordance with local customs and geology, minimizing natural disaster risks.
In particular, for the target of the period 2025 - 2026, as of mid-April 2026, the whole province has started construction of 1,340/1,340 houses, reaching 100%, of which 1,251 houses have been completed, reaching 93.3%.

Mr. Nguyen Van Luc - Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Lang Son province - affirmed that throughout the construction period, the steering committee closely followed the progress every day, and reported to the Provincial Steering Committee to immediately remove arising problems.
New spacious houses are not only a safe haven for the poor, but also a vivid symbol of "the Party's will, the people's hearts", forming a solid defense line to protect the sacred fence of the Fatherland.
