Ngoc Hoi bridge accelerates, target to be completed before APEC 2027

Hanoi - Ngoc Hoi Bridge worth more than 10,197 billion VND is being accelerated for construction, with the goal of completion before the APEC 2027 Summit.

The Ngoc Hoi bridge and approach road project at both ends of the bridge are being accelerated by contractors, with the goal of completing the project before the APEC 2027 Summit takes place.

According to Mr. Ngo Ngoc Van - Director of the Hanoi City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the project has a total length of about 7.5km, of which the section through Hanoi is 5.2km long and through Hung Yen is 2.3km long. The total investment of the project is more than 10,197 billion VND.

The main bridge over the Red River is about 680m long, 38.3m wide, designed with 6 lanes for motorized vehicles and 2 mixed lanes. The approach bridge has a total length of about 6.58km.

To date, site clearance is basically completed. Hanoi has handed over all 32.6/32.6ha, reaching 100%; Hung Yen has handed over 22.13/22.66ha, reaching 97.6%.

The remaining ground area is about 0.53ha, along with some underground and above-ground works and 17 graves that need to be further moved.

After starting construction on August 19, 2025, the contractors have completed 2 main tower pillars with 80/80 bored piles.

For the approach bridge, the contractors have completed 1,932/1,395 bored piles, 149/318 pier bases, 81/318 pier bodies and 26/318 beams. The Super T beam casting work achieved 283/2,165 slabs, of which 14 slabs have been installed.

Currently, the project is implementing 18 construction fronts, focusing on the main bridge, approach bridge, service road, beam casting site and related items.

The value of construction output reached approximately 1,574.8 billion VND, equivalent to 21.37% of the contract value.

However, the project progress is being affected by heavy rain and rising Red River water levels, causing difficulties for the construction process.

In addition, Hung Yen still has some problems related to underground and above-ground works and graves that have not been moved. These are factors that may affect the project implementation progress.

Units are continuing to coordinate to remove existing site problems, and at the same time accelerate construction teams to ensure the goal of completing the project before the APEC 2027 Summit takes place.
