On April 15, the Fire and Rescue Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) organized a conference to evaluate fire prevention, fighting and rescue work in the first quarter of 2026, and deploy tasks for the coming time.
According to a report by the Fire and Rescue Police Department at the conference, in the first quarter of 2026, the fire situation is still complicated, mainly concentrated in the type of fire in people's houses, houses combined with production and business (accounting for 45.23%).
The number of fires decreased by 221 cases compared to the same period last year, but damage to people and property still increased. Fires caused by electrical equipment incidents in households and production and business establishments still account for a high proportion (74.59%). Nationwide, 19 fires of level III or higher occurred.
Also according to the report, in the first quarter of 2026, the Fire and Rescue Police force proactively advised the Party, National Assembly, Government, Ministry of Public Security, Party committees and local authorities to deploy many synchronous measures in fire prevention and fighting and rescue work.
In which, the force continues to advise on building the Government's Project on "Preventing and reducing fires causing serious damage to people and property and improving the effectiveness of CNCH work".
At the same time, deploying tasks to ensure fire prevention and fighting and rescue safety to serve the 14th Party Congress, Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, major events of the country and early year festivals; election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and election of People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2030 term. Thereby, contributing to curbing fires and explosions, ensuring security and social order.
At the conference, representatives of the Police of units and localities reported, presented papers, and highly appreciated the leadership and direction of the Government and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security in fire prevention and fighting and rescue work; and at the same time informed about the deployment of scientific research and application of technology in fire prevention and fighting and rescue; implementing online full process administrative procedures on the Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security according to regulations.
The opinions also clearly stated the difficulties and obstacles, and proposed solutions to reduce the number of fires and explosions in the coming time.
Speaking to direct at the conference, Major General Duong Duc Hai - Director of the Department of Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue (PCCC and CNCH) - stated clearly that in the coming time, fire prevention, fighting and rescue work faces many major challenges, highlighted by the extreme impact of weather with prolonged heat and high fire risk;
Overload pressure on the power system due to strong demand; along with that is the rapid economic development process, increasing interspersed production facilities in residential areas, posing many risks of fire and explosion.
Thoroughly grasping the motto "taking prevention as the main thing", the Fire and Rescue Police force must proactively identify risks early and remotely, not allowing large fires to occur, causing serious damage to people and property.
The Director of the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department requested the Police of units and localities to continue to enhance their advisory role to Party committees and local authorities; proactively grasp the situation, forecast, and promptly propose solutions to prevent and effectively handle complex issues related to Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue.
At the same time, it is necessary to promote administrative procedure reform in the field of fire prevention and fighting and rescue in the direction of publicity, transparency, creating maximum convenience for people and businesses, contributing to creating a foundation for successfully implementing the double-digit growth target according to the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress.
Major General Duong Duc Hai also noted that propaganda work must be strongly innovated, shifting from "reminding" to "inspiring, equipping skills", promoting the effectiveness of "FIRE Prevention and Fighting Safe Family Groups", "Public Fire Stops", thereby building fire prevention and fighting awareness and culture among the entire population.
In addition, it is necessary to promote the application of science and technology, digital transformation in fire prevention and fighting and rescue work; gradually master technology, develop security industry in this field, improve command, operation and situation handling capabilities.
