The project to build the new Phong Chau bridge - National Highway 32C, Phu Tho province will be implemented from the end of 2024 according to the Emergency Construction Order.
The project has a total investment of more than 635 billion VND from the central budget reserve; Thang Long Project Management Board (under the Ministry of Construction) is the project investor, the construction unit is Army Corps 12 - Truong Son Construction Corporation.
After more than 8 months of construction, on the morning of August 27, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of National Defense and Phu Tho province held a ceremony to close the new Phong Chau bridge on National Highway 32C, across the Red River, connecting Phung Nguyen commune and Van Xuan commune, Phu Tho province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Tran Ngoc Tuan - Director of Truong Son 9 Executive Board (Truong Son Construction Corporation) affirmed that in the context of the upcoming storm season, the early closure of Phong Chau bridge is of great significance in ensuring smooth traffic, promptly serving rescue and relief work when natural disasters occur.
This is also a testament to the strong direction of the Government, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of National Defense and Phu Tho province and construction units to quickly overcome the consequences of natural disasters and soon stabilize people's lives.
Immediately after the closure, the construction unit will complete the bridge surface, expansion joints, railings, lighting and approach roads at both ends of the bridge.

It is expected that the new Phong Chau bridge project will be put into operation in early October 2025, 3 months earlier than planned.
The new Phong Chau bridge has a main bridge length of 383m, the approach road to the sliding bridge connecting to Phung Nguyen commune is 113m long, the Van Xuan commune side is 155m long, the surface is 20.5m wide.
