Ho Chi Minh City - Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc requested to stop using Le Loi street to organize events to limit traffic congestion.

The direction was given at the conference summarizing the organization and care for the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026; assessing the socio-economic situation in February and the first two months of the year, deploying key tasks for March, held on February 27.

According to the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, in 2026 and the following years, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports needs to review and re-plan the organization of events in the central area.

In which, Le Loi street "resolutely does not organize events", except in special cases permitted by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Once there is Nguyen Hue street, Le Loi street should not be requisitioned for event organization anymore" - Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that recently, the dense organization of fairs, exhibitions, and trade events on Nguyen Hue and Le Loi streets has caused traffic to fall into serious congestion at many times. People have difficulty traveling, and tourists are also affected.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc shared that he once had to get out of the car and walk to the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee due to traffic jams when these roads were requisitioned to organize events.

Regarding Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that events can still be organized, but they should only be important programs of the city, not organized indiscriminately and densely.

Organizing too much will cause noise pollution, making people uncomfortable. There are nights when there is almost no space for people to walk properly. Pedestrian street but cannot walk because events and fairs are crowded" - Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc said.

According to the head of the city government, Ho Chi Minh City does not lack resources to the point of having to take advantage of central roads to organize too many commercial events.

How much is collected, while causing trouble for people, terrible traffic jams. International tourists are probably also very inconvenient" - Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc raised the issue.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports to re-elaborate specific plans and plans, which events are organized, where to organize, and what frequency.

The general spirit is to focus on major and important events on Nguyen Hue street. Le Loi street will not continue to be requisitioned for event organization" - Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc directed.
