On July 24, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Diep - Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province) said that the unit had coordinated with functional forces to destroy all 54 pigs suspected of being infected with African swine fever.

As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, at around 3:00 a.m. on July 23, Tuy Phuoc Traffic Police Station coordinated with Tuy Phuoc Commune Police and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Gia Lai Province to inspect a truck with license plate 36H-044.36 driven by driver Bui Van Mai (born in 1979, residing in Thanh Hoa Province).

The vehicle was carrying 54 pigs, many of which showed signs of lethargy, weakness, skin hemorrhage, diarrhea - typical symptoms of African swine fever. The driver could not present an animal quarantine certificate.

The provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has taken samples and sent them for testing, but at the time of the inspection, there were still no results. By the afternoon of July 23, some pigs in the truck had died, the owner of the truck wrote a voluntary petition to hand over all 54 pigs for destruction.

To ensure the prevention of African swine fever, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has coordinated with the People's Committee of Quy Nhon Tay Ward and contacted Binh Dinh Environmental Joint Stock Company to destroy all pigs at Long My Waste Treatment Area.

It is known that the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine is preparing a dossier and forwarding it to the competent authority for consideration and handling of administrative violations against related individuals.
