On June 11, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tung - Director of Ha Tinh Maritime Port Authority - said that currently, the business side with the sunken Cong Thanh 07 ship is developing a process to salvage the ship, and there is no specific time yet.
Recently, a meeting to grasp the situation of the plan to salvage the Cong Thanh 07 ship was held with the presence of representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Tinh province, Thinh Thanh Transport Joint Stock Company (owner of the Cong Thanh 07 ship), Northern Coal Trading Joint Stock Company (owner of the ship), insurance and appraisal units.
According to information from Ha Tinh Maritime Port Authority, Cong Thanh 07 ship sank in the seaport area of Ha Tinh on 25.5; on the ship there were about 30 m3 of Diesel oil, 1,400 liters of oil and 4,952.06 tons of coal; the sunken ship area often had maritime ships passing by.
After the sinking incident, the Ha Tinh Maritime Port Authority requested the ship owner to determine the current status and location of the sunken ship; establish a maritime signal according to regulations to ensure maritime safety for ships operating in the area. Urgently develop a plan and deploy the salvage of sunken assets (including ships, goods, etc.).
In particular, immediately deploy the recovery of remaining oil on the ship to prevent the risk of oil spills. Signing a contract with a unit capable of responding to oil spills in the area to be ready to respond and handle in case of oil spills, leaks, and not affecting the marine environment of the area.
Ha Tinh Maritime Port Authority requires ship owners to report in detail and specify the time schedule for oil suction and salvage of sunken ships before June 16.
As Lao Dong reported, on the evening of May 25, the cargo ship Cong Thanh 07 was on its way carrying nearly 5,000 tons of coal from Quang Ninh province to Quang Binh province when it reached the coastal area of Vung Ang (Ha Tinh) when it had an accident and sank.
At this time, there were 11 crew members on the boat. Everyone had to jump into the sea by boat. One of them was rescued by a fishing boat, the remaining 10 people were rescued by rescue forces at noon on May 26 and brought safely to shore.
