At 4:00 a.m. on September 1, Mr. Vu Quoc Bao (residing in Quang Ninh) and his wife took a bus to Hanoi to visit the exhibition of the country's 80th Anniversary achievements. This event is taking place at the National Exhibition Center (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi city). Coming early, the trip was very convenient, and at 7am, the couple arrived at the exhibition.
Mr. Bao said he has served in the army for 6 years. This year, I am 83 years old, but I am still very excited to go see the parade. "The children told me to stay at home to watch the parade on TV, but I refused. I want to be present directly in the parade atmosphere," said Mr. Bao. Moreover, he said, perhaps this is his last time watching the parade, it is unlikely a second time.
"I told my children that when I went to see the parade this time, I would walk with my own feet, and the next time, I would probably "go back to the clouds and the wind", Mr. Bao humorously said.
Seeing his father's determination, his children had to "come back". A child of his sent him 3 million VND through his account, with the message: "Here is a gift, please take me to Hanoi to watch the parade".
Mr. Bao showed reporters his child's message with un hidden happiness on his face. "3 million VND for a parade tour is enough. If anything arises, I have my own savings" - Mr. Bao said.
With his children's gifts, he wore a set of veteran clothes, wore a backpack containing personal belongings and then stopped his wife to "travel", the first stop was the National Exhibition Center. Occasionally, his children call and text via Zalo to "updated" their parents' trip situation.
Witnessing the achievements of provinces and cities, the fields displayed at the exhibition, he was very moved, because that demonstrated the development and growth of the country. "80 years have not had a day like this. The Vietnamese people have gone through 2 new resistance wars for independence and freedom as they have today, that is the most precious thing, Mr. Bao shared.
Mr. Bao said that he had previously attended a parade in the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day Ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City (April 30). That is a very memorable memory for the veteran.

Mr. Bao's schedule is the afternoon of September 1, he and his wife will go down to the inner city to watch the parade on the morning of September 2. This is an event he does not want to miss. Mr. Bao said that he had information that veterans like him would have priority seats to watch the parade - this made him very happy and believed that he would have another memorable memory - the parade in Hanoi.
The veteran said that through the parade, he will see the situation of national defense, military equipment, military forces... to be more proud of the army - the force that comes from the people, the core force with the entire people to victory in the two resistance wars against colonialism and the empire.
