On October 23, the An Suong Traffic Police Team (HCMC Police) said it was verifying and clarifying the incident related to a clip of two female students riding a motorbike without helmets and smoking while traveling on the road.
Previously, social networks spread a clip about 29 seconds long recording two female students riding a motorbike together, traveling on Nguyen Anh Thu Street (in Ba Diem Commune, Ho Chi Minh City). Notably, the female student sitting behind did not wear a helmet or hold a cigarette while the car was running.
This image quickly spread, attracting thousands of shares and comments. Most social media users expressed their frustration with the two female students' lack of awareness, disregard for the law and danger to traffic safety.
The Traffic Police are coordinating with authorities to verify the identity, and at the same time check the status of the driver's license and the origin of the vehicle to handle it according to the law.
The An Suong Traffic Police Team affirmed that they will clarify the incident and strictly handle the violation (if any). At the same time, this unit called on people, especially students, to raise awareness of complying with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, wear helmets when riding motorbikes, and not smoke in public places, contributing to building a culture of safe and civilized traffic.
