On June 15, the Con Co Island Border Guard Station (Con Co Island District, Quang Tri Province) confirmed that it had identified the identity of the victim who drifted to Con Co Island.
Accordingly, the victim was Truong Thi Ngan (born in 1964, residing in Bo Trach, Quang Binh province). The victim drowned at 5:00 a.m. on June 13 while fishing in the river mouth with her husband, then was swept away to Con Co Island.
"The victim's daughter went to Con Co Island to identify him. After that, we supported bringing the bodies to the mainland and then the volunteer team of Quang Tri province helped transport the bodies back to their hometown for burial for free" - Lieutenant Colonel Le Quoc Hoc, Head of Con Co Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard), said.
Previously, as reported, at 1:45 p.m. on May 14, while patrolling along the coast, the patrol team of Con Co Island Border Guard Station discovered a female body drifting ashore. After receiving the information, the Border Guard Command of Quang Tri province directed Con Co Border Guard Station to coordinate with the police force and the island district health center to bring the body to shore, take DNA samples to identify and carry out legal procedures according to regulations.
