On August 25, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Danh Thang - Deputy Director of the Department of Finance of Dak Lak province - said that currently 102 communes and wards in the province have been arranged with one public car per unit to serve travel needs.
However, this number has not yet met the working needs, especially in remote communes with large areas. According to current regulations, each commune and ward is allocated a maximum of 2 public cars.
Therefore, the Department of Finance is advising the Provincial People's Committee on a plan to buy additional public vehicles for each commune and ward in 2026. The budget will be proposed from the central budget and partly from the local budget.
Through research, many public vehicles have been used for more than 20 years, with a distance exceeding 200,000km, and the components are degraded and need to be liquidated.
In particular, in remote communes, where there are many ethnic minorities and traffic is difficult, cadres and civil servants are in great need of means to carry out their tasks. Increasing means will help grassroots authorities stay close to the area, get closer to the people and serve the people more effectively.
"Rural communes will be given priority to add public cars first. Areas near the administrative center with favorable socio-economic conditions will be arranged later. Due to the large cost of purchasing the vehicle, the province will implement it according to the roadmap, it cannot be implemented simultaneously but needs to be carefully calculated," Mr. Thang added.
