Creating livelihoods to help people escape poverty
Mr. Nguyen Van Cung (52 years old), in Dak Wer commune, Dak R'lap district, has been a poor household for 8 years now. The reason is that Mr. Cung has no land for production and is currently living on land lent by others.
Besides, Mr. Cuong's family has 5 children, one of whom has cerebral palsy. Therefore, despite working hard all day, Mr. Cung can only provide enough food for the whole family.
Recently, Mr. Cung was overjoyed to receive a breeding cow from the commune authorities. Before receiving the cow, Mr. Cung had requested materials to build a barn in a systematic manner.
"My family members and I will take good care of this cow. Because this cow will be the new livelihood of the family. When the cow gives birth, I will have more income, improve the family economy, and treat my child's illness" - Mr. Cung shared.
Similarly, near Mr. Cung's house, Mr. Lu Van Cuong (Tay ethnic) also recently invested in building a barn to raise breeding cows with support from the authorities.
Mr. Cuong's biggest wish is that after having cows, he will have a new source of income besides the seasonal labor that his family has been doing for a long time.
Mr. Vo Ngoc Anh, Acting Chairman of Dak Wer Commune People's Committee said: "Supporting breeding cows is considered an optimal solution for people in the area to develop their household economy. Before giving breeding cows to people, we carefully reviewed the circumstances of each household. Thereby, ensuring the right subjects according to current regulations".
According to Mr. Anh, before handing over the breeding cows, the commune authorities also went to the people's houses to survey the barn system and the grazing area.
"This process will help the commune manage the process of raising and caring for livestock. This will directly help the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction achieve the highest efficiency in Dak Wer commune," Mr. Anh affirmed.
