Dien Bien province reduced from 129 communes, wards and towns (currently) to establish 45 new commune-level administrative units (42 communes and 3 wards). In particular, many new communes are expected to be arranged workplaces at old headquarters of the districts.
Dien Bien Phu ward was established on the basis of merging Him Lam ward, Tan Thanh ward, Muong Thanh ward, Thanh Binh ward, Thanh Truong ward and Thanh Minh commune. It is expected to use the headquarters of the City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Dien Bien Phu City as the working headquarters of Dien Bien Phu Ward.
Establish Muong Thanh ward on the basis of merging Noong Bua ward, Nam Thanh ward and Thanh Xuong commune. It is expected to use the headquarters of the District Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Dien Bien district as the working headquarters of Muong Thanh ward.
Establish Muong Lay ward on the basis of merging Song Da ward, Na Lay ward, Lay Nua commune and Sa Tong commune. It is expected to use the headquarters of the Town Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Muong Lay town as the working headquarters of Muong Lay ward.
Establish Tuan Giao commune on the basis of merging Quai Cang commune, Quai Nua commune and Tuan Giao town. It is expected to use the headquarters of the District Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Tuan Giao district as the working headquarters of Tuan Giao commune.
Establish Muong Ang commune on the basis of merging Ang Nua commune, Ang Cang commune and Muong Ang town. It is expected to use the headquarters of the District Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Muong Ang district as the working headquarters of Muong Ang commune.
Muong Nhe commune was established on the basis of merging Muong Nhe commune, Nam Vi commune and Chung Chai commune. It is expected to use the headquarters of the District Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Muong Nhe district as the working headquarters of Muong Nhe commune.
Na Hy commune was established on the basis of merging Na Hy commune, Na Khoa commune, Nam Nhu commune and Nam Chua commune. It is expected to use the headquarters of the District Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Nam Po district as the working headquarters of Na Hy commune.
Na Sang commune was established on the basis of merging Na Sang commune, Ma Thi Ho commune, Sa Long commune and Muong Cha town. It is expected to use the headquarters of the District Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Muong Cha district as the working headquarters of Na Sang commune.
Tua Chua commune was established on the basis of importing Muong Bang commune, Na Tong commune and Tua Chua town.It is expected to use the headquarters of the District Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of Tua Chua district as a place to place the office of Tua Chua commune.
Na Son commune was established on the basis of importing Na Son commune, Keo Lom commune and Dien Bien Dong town.It is expected to use the headquarters of the District Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of Dien Bien Dong district as a place to work in Na Son commune.
After the arrangement, Sin Thau is the commune with the largest natural area in Dien Bien province with 516.42 km2. Muong Thanh ward is the MVHC with the smallest natural area of 27.56 km2.
