On June 4, Mr. Le Van Thong - Chairman of the People's Committee (UBND) of Cua Viet commune (Quang Tri province) - said that this unit had just organized an auction to lease public assets for 33 service kiosks at Gio Hai community beach, Cua Viet.
This row of kiosks and restaurants along the coast, although invested and built spaciously, falls into a state of being "covered in tarpaulins", locked doors and abandoned for many months, causing waste of public resources and property and reducing the aesthetics of the beach area.
To thoroughly resolve the above situation, implementing the decisions approving the Project on using public assets and the auction organization plan of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, on May 27, the Cua Viet Commune General Service Center coordinated with Dong Nam Joint Venture Auction Company to organize an auction session to lease public assets for the above 33 kiosks.

As a result, the auction session was successful with 30/33 kiosks finding new owners with a winning bid price exceeding the starting price by 65%. Among these, 26 kiosks were auctioned by households living right in Cua Viet commune and 4 kiosks belonged to households outside the locality.
Currently, there are still 3 kiosks that have not had anyone participate in the auction and will continue to be re-auctioned in the next phase, determined to put the entire row of kiosks into operation, serving marine tourism and local economic development.
Currently, the winning auction households have come to make dossiers and pay money. We are very happy with the auction results, and hope that the households will soon start operating" - Mr. Le Van Thong said.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper had an article "Series of beachfront restaurants in Quang Tri abandoned in the tourist season", reflecting the situation of a series of restaurants and service kiosks at Gio Hai, Cua Viet and Trung Giang community beaches, although invested with large capital, have not been put into operation, have to close for a long time, causing waste of public assets and affecting local tourism activities.
These projects belong to the Project on Development of Tourism Infrastructure to Support Comprehensive Growth in the Greater Mekong Subregion Phase 2 - Quang Tri Sub-project, with a total investment of more than 258 billion VND. Many items such as restaurants, service kiosks, operating houses and technical infrastructure systems have been completed since 2024 but cannot be exploited due to procedures related to public asset use plans, valuation and auction organization.
