Thai Nguyen is a province with a rich irrigation lake system, not only ensuring irrigation water sources but also contributing to socio-economic development.
To exploit more effectively, the province has focused on opening connecting routes, creating favorable conditions for infrastructure operation and orienting future service exploitation.
At Nam Cat Lake (old Bac Kan City), a key project worth 226 billion VND to build a road about 6km long will be implemented from 2023.
The project is expected to be completed in 2025, this is an important project, when completed, it is expected to upgrade the infrastructure of the irrigation lake area.
The route is divided into 3 sections, of which the first section is 1.4km long, built according to urban road standards, the road surface is 10.5m wide, with sidewalks on both sides.
The next two sections are 1.5km and 3.1km long, built according to the standards of a grade IV road, with a road surface width of 7 to 7.5m.
Recorded at the construction site, the construction unit is focusing on site clearance, weak soil treatment, stone spread, rolling and completing drainage ditches, embankments and auxiliary items.
As of the second quarter of 2025, package 15 has reached about 39% of the contract volume, with the Cao Lan bridge having completed most of the foundation and piers.
The rest stop has reached about 95% of the volume, the section from Km3+00 to Km6+520 has been opened and is implementing roadbed items and a cross-drainage system.
Along with Nam Cat, Suoi Lanh Lake (old Pho Yen City) also received an investment of nearly 100 billion VND for a total length of more than 4.5km.
The project includes a part of renovation and a part of opening, a 14m wide roadbed, a 6 to 8m road surface, asphalt concrete and cement concrete pavement.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter in September 2025, the project has now been completed and put into operation after more than 1 year of construction.
The entire route is paved with asphalt, ensuring safe travel, creating favorable conditions for infrastructure operation and connecting the lake area.
Previously, speaking with reporters, Mr. Dang Van Ty - Chairman of Thanh Cong Commune People's Committee said that the road connecting to Suoi Lanh Lake was completed in the second quarter of 2025.
This is an important step to help the locality have conditions for economic development associated with water surface advantages while increasing the value of irrigation lakes.
The infrastructure works connecting to Nam Cat and Suoi Lanh lakes after completion will not only serve the needs of transportation and irrigation lake management but also open up opportunities for socio-economic development.
