The project to renovate and upgrade the 67.2 km long road has a total investment of more than 732 billion VND. The completed route will connect Muong La, Chieng Hoa, Pac Nga, Bac Yen communes, creating momentum for economic, trade and tourism development along the Da River.
The project affects 1,503 households and 8 organizations. By October 22, 2025, the units had approved compensation plans for 1,026 households and 6 organizations, while 477 households and 2 organizations had not been approved.
The entire project has 7 construction packages, the implementation value reached over 97% of the contract, but there are still 4.17/19.93 km that have not been handed over the site.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, contractors are working overtime, taking advantage of favorable weather to ensure progress. The sections through Muong Pia village (Chieng Hoa commune) and Suoi Cai village (Pac Nga commune) have been completed; the section through Cao Da village (Bac Yen commune) is being accelerated.
However, site clearance is still problematic in some locations, mainly related to forest land and overlapping land use right certificates.
In Chieng Hoa commune, there are still more than 50 households that have not received compensation for related land protection forests and community land. Many households have proactively handed over land and agreed with the investment policy.
Mr. Luong Van Lang, Ta village (Chieng Hoa commune), said: "I support the policy of upgrading, renovating and expanding the road, I have voluntarily handed over land and assets on the land to the project. Hopefully the road will soon be opened to traffic, helping to improve the material and spiritual life of the people".

In Pac Nga commune, a 41 km long section with 367 households is affected. Only 47 households have had their compensation plans approved, but the construction volume has reached 98.4%. The local government is coordinating with specialized agencies to count and verify the origin of the land to pay the remaining 320 households.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Ha - Chairman of the People's Committee of Pac Nga commune, the biggest problem is still forest land and overlapping areas, but the people basically agree, hoping the road will be completed soon.
People along the route assessed that the construction progress has had many positive changes. Mr. Lo Van Nhu, Bat village, shared that the people believe the road will soon be put into use and contribute to improving their lives.

According to the plan, the entire route will be technically open to traffic before December 31, 2025, contributing to the completion of the goal of 100% of the roads to the center of Son La being hardened, traveling all year round; creating momentum for socio-economic development of mountainous communes along the Da River.
