On December 18, Road Management Area III said that it had just sent a document to the Vietnam Road Administration reporting the landslide causing traffic jams and the work of overcoming natural disasters and ensuring traffic on National Highway 27C, through Khanh Le Pass.
To prevent and limit damage, ensure traffic safety, and restore traffic operations, Road Management Zone III requests the Vietnam Road Administration to report and the Ministry of Transport to announce the Decision on emergency situations regarding natural disasters on National Highway 27C managed by Road Management Zone III; issue an order to build emergency works to overcome the consequences of natural disasters after the Ministry of Transport issues the Decision on emergency situations.
According to the report of Road Management Area III, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, landslides occurred on Khanh Le pass.
At Km43+400, a landslide from the positive slope with a huge volume filled the entire road surface with a length of more than 300m, completely blocking traffic.
There are many large rocks that have to be blasted.
Of which, a large rock of about 400m3, blocking the road at Km43+400, was blasted to break the rock on the evening of December 16. However, after blasting and clearing the large rock and continuing to clear the landslide and landslide that covered the road at Km43+400, the construction unit discovered many large rocks, so they had to continue breaking the rock.
In addition, the rescue road at Km43+450 is currently seriously damaged by landslides and rocks; the 2-layer corrugated iron guardrail and the entire drainage ditch along the section from Km43+200 to Km43+500 are completely damaged. A 3cm wide, 28m long crack appeared on the asphalt concrete road surface from Km26+340 to Km26+368. A crack appeared on the asphalt concrete road surface from Km61+729 to Km61+759, about 20cm wide.
Currently, there are 30 pieces of equipment at the construction site, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and construction vehicles working 24/7 at the two adjacent points to open the road to traffic as soon as possible. Currently, the weather in the Khanh Le Pass area is still rainy, the water in the streams is flowing strongly, and there is a lot of fog.
Road Management Area III has requested the regular maintenance management unit to continue to urgently carry out rock breaking; at the same time, increase equipment for clearing landslides and breaking rocks.
