On June 6, the Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board chaired a meeting to assess the coordination of inspection and handling of fishing vessels and boats anchored in the wrong positions in the coastal area of Ha Long Bay.
Attending the meeting were representatives of the Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board; People's Committees of Hong Gai and Ha Long wards; Traffic Police Department of Quang Ninh Provincial Police; Border Guard Station of Hon Gai port border gate; Sub-Department of Sea, Islands and Fisheries, Quang Ninh Fisheries Surveillance.
Through actual inspection in the coastal area of Ha Long Bay, belonging to Hong Gai and Ha Long wards, functional forces recorded more than 500 fishing boats and ships anchored in the wrong positions. At peak times, the number of vehicles anchored reached about 1,000.
According to functional agencies, this situation causes encroachment on the route, potentially posing a risk of unsafe waterway traffic, and at the same time affecting the environmental landscape and tourism image of the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay.

Implementing Plan No. 143/KH-BQLDSTG on coordinating inspection and handling of fishing vessels and boats anchored in wrong positions in the coastal area of Ha Long Bay, from June 1 - 5, the inter-sectoral working group deployed a peak period of inspection and handling of violations.
As a result, the working group conducted 6 patrols and inspections; propagated, mobilized and guided more than 500 organizations, individuals, and people to use ships and boats for the right purpose and anchor in the right places.
Through inspection, functional forces made records of administrative violations against 6 vehicle owners anchored in areas with no-entry signs, requesting a total fine of 9.5 million VND.
At the meeting, representatives of agencies and units also raised some difficulties such as some coastal areas of Ha Long Bay not having clear administrative boundaries at commune level at sea, affecting the state management of local authorities.
According to the Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board, after the peak inspection period, the inter-sectoral inspection team will continue to maintain patrols, inspections and strictly handle cases of intentional illegal anchoring in the coastal area of Ha Long Bay.
The Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board will also propose to the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee to assign coastal localities to implement comprehensive state management of activities in the coastal area and buffer zone of Ha Long Bay, including the anchoring activities of fishing vessels and boats.
Proposing the Provincial People's Committee to soon invest in and upgrade the synchronous system of wharves and fishing ports to both ensure livelihoods for fishermen and maintain security and order and the environment, gradually promoting the value of fishing ports as a unique tourism product, contributing to attracting tourists.
Currently, fishing vessels and boats are being guided to anchor centrally in the area of Hon Do - Gieng Coi, Hong Gai ward and Hon Vung Chua, Ha Long ward.
