Recently, in the Hon Chong sea area, north of Nha Trang, black water has appeared, emitting a foul smell flowing into the sea.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Khanh Hoa province, the report of Nha Trang City People's Committee on June 27 showed that along the coastal route from the North of Tran Phu bridge to Duong De residential area, there are 5 drainage gates.
The Hon Chong and Dang Tat discharge gates were invested and operated since 2015. The discharge port includes Dang Tat Pumping Station, 2 wells ( Hon Chong and Dang Tat).
This system is designed with a flip-off valve mechanism to separate rainwater and wastewater. When it is not raining, all wastewater is pumped into the plant for treatment; when it rains heavily, the amount of rainwater thins the wastewater and is discharged into the environment according to the design.
However, the equipment of Dang Tat Pumping Station has deteriorated after a long period of exploitation, reducing operational and handling efficiency.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment proposed that the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province assign the Department of Construction to continue handling previous proposals of the People's Committee of Nha Trang City. In particular, the urgent plan is to purchase pumps for backup, regular maintenance, dredging, and maintenance of floodgates to ensure stable and efficient operation.
Direct the unit assigned to operate to strengthen supervision and management of the operation of the flip-side valve system, ensure that wastewater is collected and treated according to the correct process, and minimize direct discharge into the sea when not necessary.
Assign the People's Committee of Bac Nha Trang Ward to coordinate with relevant agencies and units to organize propaganda, monitor the community, promptly detect incidents and report handling.
Within the scope of connecting wastewater to the Northern Wastewater Treatment Plant of Nha Trang city, facilities are required to strictly implement regulations on collection, treatment and connection of all wastewater to the Plant.
In the long term, the Department of Agriculture and Environment recommends that the province invest in and complete the wastewater collection system in the residential area of Bac Nha Trang Ward.
From there, they separate and pump them into the City's Northern Wastewater Treatment Plant according to the drainage and urban wastewater treatment plan of Nha Trang City.

Currently, along the coastal route in Bac Nha Trang ward, there are 5 floodgates including: Discharge 1 in the Co Bien 4 Park area, near Tran Phu bridge; discharge 2 in Hon Chong; discharge 3 on Dang Tat street; discharge 4 in Ba Lang; discharge 5 in the Nui Mot area.
