District 5 merged 15 wards to 3 wards

Cho Quan ward: formed on the basis of merging wards 1, 2 and 4, with an area of ​​1.28 km², a population of about 63,545 people.

An Dong ward: Merging wards 5, 7 and 9, with an area of ​​1.32 km², a population of about 81,229 people.

Cho Lon Ward: Founded from ward 11, 12, 13 and 14, with an area of ​​1.67 km², a population of about 85,066 people.

District 6 merged 14 wards to 5 wards

Binh Tien ward: Including ward 1, 7 and 8, with an area of ​​1.61 km², a population of about 66,707 people.

Binh Tay Ward: Including ward 2 and 9, an area of ​​1.05 km², a population of about 45,861 people.

Phu Dinh Ward: Including Ward 10 (District 6) and part of Ward 16 (District 8), an area of ​​1.85 km², a population of about 35,064 people

Binh Phu Ward: Including ward 11 and 12, an area of ​​1.11 km², a population of about 59,795 people.

Phu Lam Ward: Including ward 13 and 14, an area of ​​1.27 km², a population of about 45,985 people

Thai My commune: Including Trung Lap Thuong, Thai My and Phuoc Thanh; Area 62.44 km², population 49,862 people.

Nhuan Duc commune: Including Nhuan Duc, Trung Lap Ha and Pham Van Coi; Area 62.05 km², population of 40,239 people.

Tan An Hoi commune: including Phuoc Hiep, Tan An Hoi and Cu Chi town; Area 53.5 km², population of 84,342 people.

Cu Chi commune: including Tan Phu Trung, Tan Thong Hoi and Phuoc Vinh An; Area 64.87 km², population 128,661 people.

Phu Hoa Dong commune: Including Tan Thanh Tay, Tan Thanh Dong and Phu Hoa Dong; Area 59.75 km², population of 97,766 people.

Binh My commune: Including Binh My, Trung An and Hoa Phu; Area 54.43 km², population of 99,675 people.

Hoc Mon commune: including Hoc Mon town, Tan Xuan and Tan Hiep communes; Area 16.43 km², population 88,632 people.

Ba Diem commune: Including Ba Diem, Xuan Thoi Thuong and Trung Chanh; area of ​​27.36 km², a population of 192,230 people.

Xuan Thoi Son commune: Including Tan Thoi Nhi, Xuan Thoi Son and Xuan Thoi Dong; Area 35.21 km², population of 96,621 people.

Dong Thanh commune: Including Thoi Tam Thon, Dong Thanh and Nhi Binh; area of ​​30.16 km², population 187,758 people.

Can Gio commune: Including Long Hoa commune and Can Thanh town; an area of ​​about 157 km², a population of 22,000 people.
