On August 19, Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) held the inauguration of two key projects to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), including: 110kV transformer station of Hoa Binh Industrial Park and connecting lines (An Giang province); 220kV Chau Thanh transformer line on Vi Thanh - Long My 110kV line (old Hau Giang province, now Can Tho city) was opened.
These are 2 of 14 projects registered by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) to start construction and inaugurate on the occasion of August 19, 2025, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The 110kV Hoa Binh Industrial Park transformer station (Hoi An 110kV substation) and connecting lines started construction on December 27, 2024 and were energized on July 15, 2025. The project has a total investment of 146.4 billion VND, with a new construction scale of a 110kV transformer station, 2x63MVA capacity (in this phase, installing a 1x63MVA transformer), equipped with a fire prevention and fighting system, SCADA, HMI communication and surveillance cameras according to the unmanned base model, meeting the goal of centralized management and automation in the electricity industry; the connecting line is 5.875 km long.
The project will be put into operation to meet the increasing demand for loads in Hoi An commune, An Giang province; improve the quality of electricity, the reliability of power supply according to the N-1 criterion; reduce power loss of the power grid distributed in the area; support the supply and reduce the load for Cho Moi and Thanh Hung 110kV substations; contribute to promoting the socio-economic development of An Giang province.
The Lo Lo 220kV Chau Thanh transitional project on the Vi Thanh - Long My 110kV line started on April 20, 2024 with a line length of 19.265km with a total investment of 153.8 billion VND. When put into operation, the project contributes to releasing the capacity of Chau Thanh 220kV substation, reducing the load on the 220kV Soc Trang and Ca Mau transformer stations; reducing capacity loss and power loss in the system; at the same time, ensuring power supply to neighboring areas, improving the reliability of power supply, meeting the speed of load development and socio-economic development of Can Tho City in the future.
Previously, in order to achieve practical results to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification, 50 years of building and developing EVNSPC (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the Southern Power Industry has promptly completed 50 110kV power grid projects on April 30, 2025. These are 50 projects symbolizing the 50-year journey of EVNSPC accompanying the development of the country, continuing to ensure a stable and quality power source to serve economic, social development and people's lives in the southern provinces.
As of July 2025, Southern Power Corporation has made efforts to implement many solutions for investment and construction, including starting 41 projects and energizing 76 projects, contributing to strengthening the power grid infrastructure and improving the quality of electricity in 8 provinces and cities in the Southern region.
