Adjusting to reduce speed for some types of vehicles on the expressway through Ha Tinh

TRẦN TUẤN |

Ha Tinh - With the speed adjustment, sleeper buses and some types of vehicles are only allowed to run at a maximum of 80 km/h on the North - South expressway through Ha Tinh province.

On the afternoon of February 13, Mr. Ngo Sy Nguyen - Deputy Head of Road Management Office 2/3 (under Road Management Zone II) - said that units are currently implementing adjustments to the maximum speed recorded on the sign system along the North - South expressway section passing through Ha Tinh.

Accordingly, four expressway sections through Ha Tinh, including Dien Chau - Bai Vot, Bai Vot - Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang and Vung Ang - Bung, with a total length of 107.28 km, are all reviewed and speed adjusted to suit each vehicle group.

The adjustment is implemented according to the direction of the Vietnam Road Administration under the Ministry of Construction. The expressway through Ha Tinh is invested in phases with 4 lanes, non-continuous emergency stop lanes, currently operating at a maximum of 90 km/h.

According to the new plan, on normal route sections, cars, passenger cars with 29 seats or less and trucks up to 3.5 tons will still maintain a maximum speed of 90 km/h. Sleeper buses and other types of vehicles when traveling on the expressway are only allowed to run at a maximum of 80 km/h.

In the process of replacing and adjusting signs, the construction unit only barricades 1 lane, vehicles circulate in the remaining lane. The warning and traffic diversion sign system is fully arranged, limiting the impact on travel on the route.

According to Mr. Ngo Sy Nguyen - Deputy Head of Road Management Office 2. 3, the installation of speed control signs on expressways in Ha Tinh will be completed before February 15 to be applied immediately to vehicles traveling on expressways.

Along with reducing speed for some types of vehicles, the expressway management unit has arranged cones to ensure traffic safety and signs at emergency stop locations.

Additional items such as reflective nails, reflective eyes, yellow flash lights using solar or battery, electricity are also installed to increase the ability to recognize emergency lanes in low light conditions.

The speed adjustment is expected to contribute to improving traffic safety on the North - South expressway section passing through Ha Tinh, especially in the context of increasing traffic volume.
