On December 11, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee said that the unit had assigned the Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board to prepare a pre-feasibility study report and complete procedures to prepare for investment in the Urban Development Project in the Eastern area and along the Ea Nao - Ea Tam stream corridor.
This project belongs to the group of projects applying specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Buon Ma Thuot city (old) according to Resolution 72/2022/QH15 of the National Assembly.
After merging the old Buon Ma Thuot city boundaries, the remaining 6 wards and communes will continue to enjoy the above special mechanism.
According to the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, in May 2025, the Prime Minister approved the Urban Development Project for the Eastern and Along the Ea Nao - Ea Tam stream corridor with a total investment of more than VND 8,036 billion.
Of which, more than VND 3,638 billion is ODA loan capital from Korea (accounting for 45.27%) and more than VND 4,398 billion is counterpart capital from the central and local governments. The expected implementation period is 6 years, from 2026 - 2031.
The project implementation aims to ensure consistency and uninterruption in the context of implementing the two-level local government model.
Along with the specific policy mechanism for urban projects, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee also submitted to the Provincial People's Council to issue a resolution and a decision to allocate the estimate to the old Buon Ma Thuot city with a total capital of 336.38 billion VND.
Of which, 187 billion VND is for development investment expenditure, 144.38 billion VND is for regular expenditure and 5 billion VND is a 10% savings to implement salary reform.
