Dak Lak - According to the draft plan after removing district-level government, Buon Ma Thuot city will have 3 commune-level units.

On March 28, Mr. Bach Van Manh, Director of the Dak Lak Department of Home Affairs, said that the province has a draft plan to reorganize the commune-level administrative units of Buon Ma Thuot city after removing the district-level government.

According to the draft plan, the administrative boundary of Buon Ma Thuot city will include 3 administrative units.

In particular, Buon Ma Thuot ward is proposed to merge from the communes and wards: Ea Tam, Khanh Xuan, Tan An, Tan Hoa, Tan Lap, Tan Loi, Tan Thanh, Tan Tien, Thanh Cong, Thanh Nhat, Tu An, Hoa Xuan, Cu Ebur, along with a part of the existing city area.

The total area of Buon Ma Thuot ward after the merger is about 168km2, with a population of about 331,006 people. The headquarters is expected to be located in the current center of Buon Ma Thuot city.

Ea Kao commune is proposed to merge from Hoa Phu, Hoa Khanh, Ea Kao communes, part of the area of the existing Buon Ma Thuot city and Ea Tieu commune (Cu Kuin district).

After the merger, Ea Kao commune has a total area of over 178km2 and a population of about 88,422 people. The headquarters is expected to be located in Ea Kao commune.

Ea Tu commune is proposed to merge from Hoa Thang, Ea Tu, Hoa Thuan, Hoa Dong communes, along with a part of the area of Krong Pac district and Cu Sue commune (Cu M'gar district).

After the merger, Ea Tu commune has a total area of over 161km2 and a population of about 88,147 people. The headquarters is expected to be located in Ea Tu commune.

According to Mr. Manh, the reduction of Buon Ma Thuot city to 3 commune-level administrative units is in line with the criteria of reducing the scale of communes and wards by 75%. However, this is a draft plan that the province has sent to Buon Ma Thuot city and the people for comments.

Regarding this, the leader of the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot city said that the unit has received a request from Dak Lak province regarding the arrangement and removal of the district-level model.

If following the mechanical calculation to reduce from 70 to 75% of the commune and ward levels, Buon Ma Thuot city will have 3 administrative units.

However, Buon Ma Thuot city still does not know how to propose because in reality there are no specific instructions on the scale of the commune and ward levels, how much area to have a direction for implementation.

According to Mr. Bach Van Manh, Dak Lak province currently has 180 communes, wards and towns, expected to be reduced to 45 communes, equivalent to a reduction of 75%. At that time, 2/3 of the workload of the district level will be transferred to the commune level, the rest will be managed by the province.

The removal of intermediaries will significantly reduce administrative procedures, ensure smooth management, and better serve people and businesses.

Many policies and guidelines of the Party and State are directly implemented by the commune level, thanks to which the procedures will be faster and more effective.

Mr. Manh also said that while the administrative apparatus is more streamlined, more efficient and professional, the people will also directly supervise and control power at the grassroots level.
