The project still has many problems
The Ho Chi Minh Road project, the eastern bypass of Buon Ma Thuot city (Dak Lak province) has a total initial investment of more than 1,500 billion VND from the central budget, with a length of more than 39km. After that, the project increased its capital to more than VND 1,841 billion due to land clearance problems. The investor is the Dak Lak Province Rural Development and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board.
According to the Project Management Board, some locations have not yet completed site clearance, affecting the construction progress. Specifically, the T20 power pole at Km32+600 has not been relocated; some sections of the drainage ditch through Krong Pac and Cu Kuin districts are still stuck with site clearance. Some households in Buon Ma Thuot city have not yet handed over their land. Therefore, as of early May 2025, the accumulated disbursement value reached more than VND 1,406 billion, equivalent to 76.4% of total capital.
Currently, contractors are focusing on speeding up progress before the rainy season. Many sections of the dirt road have been paved with stone and asphalt. However, about 500m from Km0+000 to Km1+000 through Cu M'gar district has not been treated, with many potholes, posing a potential risk of accidents.
Ms. Le Thi Hien (Cuor Dang commune, Cu M'gar district) said: "People just hope to soon receive compensation, resettlement arrangements and complete the section of the road through Ko H'Neh village for safe traffic".
Quickly resolve the site clearance work
Faced with the delay, the Ministry of Construction has just sent a document to the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee requesting to thoroughly handle the site clearance work for the Ho Chi Minh Road project, the section avoiding the East of Buon Ma Thuot city.
The Ministry of Construction requests the provincial People's Committee to direct the relevant departments, branches and localities to mobilize the entire political system, focus on solving problems, urgently completing procedures and handing over the entire ground before May 15. The representative of the Dak Lak Project Management Board said that the project aims to be completed in 2025. Currently, the unit is working with the local authorities to speed up the clearance, handing over clean land for contractors to execute the final items.
