On September 30, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan chaired a meeting to discuss the search plan for fishing boat BD 97258 TS and 8 fishermen who have been missing for many days while fishing at sea.
Fishing boat BD 97258 TS is owned and captained by Mr. Huynh Van Son (born in 1981, residing in Hoai Nhon Dong ward), fishing for taking and catching ocean tuna.

On September 12, fishing vessels departed from the Ca Na Border Control Station (Khanh Hoa), operating in the sea area 147 nautical miles southeast of Quy Nhon. By 20:13 on September 27, the ship lost signal, and the family could not contact her, so they reported it to the authorities.
According to the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command, there is still no information about the boat BD 97258 TS. The unit is coordinating with the border forces of Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces to call for boats in the area to support the search.
At the meeting, the authorities of Gia Lai province made many assumptions about what could happen to the boat BD 97258 TS such as being hit by lightning, colliding with a cargo ship, sinking due to large waves from storm No. 10 (Bualoi), system loss of signal...
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee agreed to propose the establishment of a temporary command post to direct the search work, requesting urgent completion of the plan, expanding the search area, and increasing regular signal transmission for fishermen at sea to coordinate in support.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan also directed the immediate report to the Ministry of National Defense to mobilize the Coast Guard, Navy and Air Force to participate in the search and rescue.
