Along with immediate response work, Gia Lai is also accelerating the stabilization of population in areas frequently affected by natural disasters to minimize long-term risks.
According to the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Finance, in 2026, the province has allocated more than 1,231.5 billion VND to implement 16 projects and plans to arrange and stabilize residents in emergency disaster areas in the area. All of this capital must be disbursed and completed before December 31, 2026 according to regulations.
The main source of funding is used for compensation and site clearance at people's old residences and investment in building new resettlement areas.
The Provincial People's Committee requests departments, branches and local authorities to accelerate the progress of project implementation, not to let the situation of slow disbursement, capital recovery or prolonged implementation time occur, affecting the goal of bringing people out of dangerous areas before the rainy and flood season.
Localities need to urgently complete the inventory, determine the origin of land, develop and approve compensation plans, organize payments, hand over land, and complete the lottery and hand over resettlement land to people.
Projects are concentrated in many areas that were severely damaged by floods in 2024 and 2025 such as Ia Hiao, Ia Tul, Uar, Ia Rsai, Phu My Dong, An Hoa, De Gi and many other localities.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan affirmed that the province requires strict handling of contractors who do not meet the progress, quality or construction capacity. Violations will be handled according to contracts and legal regulations, including replacing contractors if necessary.
The province's drastic directions were issued in the context that Gia Lai has just experienced a historic rainy and flood season in 2025 with damage of up to trillions of VND. In particular, areas along the Ba River, Ha Thanh River, Kon River, low-lying areas and coastal areas continue to be identified as areas at high risk of being affected by rain, floods, landslides and inundation. Therefore, proactively preparing response plans and accelerating the resettlement progress for people in disaster-stricken areas is considered a fundamental solution to minimize damage, ensure safety of life and stabilize people's lives in the 2026 rainy and flood season.
