On July 3, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh - Permanent Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - said that the province is reviewing and re-numbering all surplus houses, land, and public assets after the merger to have a suitable, effective, and appropriate handling plan for the right purpose. Thereby, surplus houses, land and public assets will serve the socio-economic development benefits of the province.
After the merger and establishment of the new Gia Lai province, nearly 2,000 cadres, employees and workers in the old Pleiku city moved to Quy Nhon to work at the new Administrative Center. Many houses, land, public assets, and headquarters are currently deserted; in some places, only a few officers and employees remain to complete related records and documents.
Currently, the headquarters of the old units of Gia Lai province such as: Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Agriculture and Environment, Provincial Inspectorate, Department of Finance, Forest Protection and Development Fund, Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions... in Pleiku ward have many departments closed.

At a recent meeting, the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee requested agencies and units to strictly manage public assets after the merger of administrative units.
The Ministry of Finance has just issued an official dispatch requesting the People's Committee of Gia Lai province to direct competent authorities to inspect and clarify the process of managing, using and handling public assets at the People's Committee of Cheo Reo ward (old). According to the Ministry of Finance, the incident reflects that the leaders of this ward arbitrarily cut down many large trees in the headquarters with signs of violations, causing public outrage that need to be clarified and strictly handled.
Urban trees planted in the premises of State agency headquarters are public assets according to the provisions of the Law on Management and Use of Public Assets 2017 (amended and supplemented in 2024).
