On July 28, the People's Committee of Long Phu commune, Can Tho city, said that at around 3:00 p.m. on July 27, a prolonged heavy rain with strong thunderstorms suddenly swept through Kinh Ngang hamlet, causing serious damage to local people's houses.
Recorded at the scene, there were a total of 7 houses affected, of which 4 had their roofs blown off and 3 were completely collapsed. Fortunately, there were no human casualties.

Immediately after the incident, the leaders of Long Phu commune were present at the scene to directly inspect, visit and encourage the affected households.
The local government also quickly mobilized police, military forces, grassroots security teams and local organizations to support people in clearing the scene, relocating assets and stabilizing temporary housing. In the immediate future, the People's Committee of the commune has supported each household with a completely collapsed house with 1 million VND to cover urgent living expenses.

On the afternoon of July 28, a working group of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City and representatives of related units also visited, encouraged and presented support to affected households.
At the support handover ceremony, representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City presented money from the City's Natural Disaster Prevention Fund to 3 households whose houses were completely collapsed and received 40 million VND/household, 2 households whose houses had their roofs blown off severely received 20 million VND/household. In addition, the People's Committee of Long Phu commune also provided additional support of 10 million VND/household for collapsed houses and 5 million VND/household for houses with unroofed roofs. In total, each household with a collapsed house is supported with 50 million VND, while each household with a heavy roof blown off receives 25 million VND.
Currently, the authorities of Long Phu commune are still helping people overcome the consequences of the storm; reviewing and having plans to help people repair and rebuild their houses, and soon stabilize their lives.
