Many young people lack career orientation
Many young people in villages and hamlets in Ea Trang commune (Dak Lak province) still do not have a clear career orientation, lack stable jobs and face many difficulties in creating livelihoods.
Most of them are still very young, but due to lack of professional skills, few opportunities to access information about the labor market, they only revolve around farming or seasonal labor, with low and precarious incomes.

Mr. Y Đek Mlô (23 years old, residing in Ea Trang commune) is one of the cases in particularly difficult circumstances.
Dropping out of school early to work as a hired laborer to earn a living, he had to shoulder the family when his mother passed away about 5 years ago, and his father had also left home.
Since then, he has both worked to earn a living and taken care of his disabled older sister.

Mr. Y Đek shared that what I want most is to learn mechanical engineering to be able to apply for a job at a business.
Having a stable job will help me have more income to take care of my sister, build a family and gradually escape poverty. I am still young, healthy and willing to work hard to change my life" - Mr. Y Đek added.

Similarly, Mr. Y Tri Nie (29 years old), a poor household with a family of 4 people, is also struggling to find a direction for the future.
For more than 10 years, his income mainly relies on farming, being a construction worker and doing seasonal jobs such as hired acacia pulling.
According to Mr. Y Tri, dropping out of school early caused him to lose direction in choosing a career and not have the conditions to access suitable training programs.
If I am supported to learn construction, animal husbandry or a profession that suits my actual needs, I will be determined to study to have a stable job. Many years of lack of orientation have made my family's life still revolve around poverty, and the economy cannot improve," Mr. Y Tri confided.

Orienting the future, opening up opportunities to escape poverty
According to the People's Committee of Ea Trang commune, the locality currently has 6,760 people. Of which, more than 95% are ethnic minorities. The whole commune has 536 poor households, accounting for 32.62%; 178 near-poor households, accounting for 10.83%.
In that context, vocational training, job creation and labor export are being considered important solutions to create sustainable livelihoods, contributing to reducing poverty for the locality.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vinh - Chairman of Ea Trang Commune People's Committee - said that in recent years, the locality has implemented many vocational training activities, creating jobs for young people, especially young people from poor households, near-poor households and ethnic minorities, from resources of national target programs and the support of functional agencies.
According to Mr. Vinh, the demand for vocational training and job search for young workers is still very large. Reality shows that vocational training associated with the needs of the labor market is an effective solution to help young people improve their skills, have stable jobs and increase income.
When having a solid career, workers not only improve their personal lives but also contribute to increasing family income and reducing the rate of poor and near-poor households in the area.
Currently, many young people in Ea Trang commune want to have more access to vocational training programs, career counseling, business connection and job search support.
This is considered an important solution to help young people have more opportunities to establish themselves, start a career, gradually escape poverty and stabilize their lives.
In the period 2025 - 2030, Ea Trang commune sets a target to reduce the average poverty rate by 4-5% per year, while limiting the situation of re-poverty.
To achieve this goal, the locality continues to identify job creation for young workers and ethnic minorities as one of the key tasks in the socio-economic development strategy.
